Dáil Éireann
On the 13th of November. I started my first week of work experience with a Td called Andrew Doyle. Andrew Doyle is the minister of state for food, forestry, horticulture. I spent the week working with him. On Monday, I arrived at his constituency office in Wicklow town on the main road. I met his parliamentary assistant called liz as he was away at a meeting. I helped her do a leaflet drop out with information leaflets about the budget 2018. We walked around estates in Wicklow town handing out the leaflets. On Tuesday Morning, I got a lift to Dundrum Luas stop, from there I got the Luas to St Stephens Green. From there, I walked to the Dáil. I given a pass to go in to the Dáil and went Andrews office. I then got a tour of Leinster house and watched politians debating in the chambers. I then got lunch in the Dáil canteen which was really nice. I helped in the office with a leaflet preparation. This was a leaflet about agriculture. This leaflet was important as it was about budget 2018 and what was in it for farmers in Wicklow. Leaflets like this are important as it helps get votes in elections and tell people about your policies in the Dáil. During the week, I saw how our country was run. Politicians only work in Leinster House on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Monday and Friday, the politicians go back to their constituents and work in their office. On Wednesday, I got to meet Leo Varadkar after he finished one of his meetings. It was great to meet the Taoiseach of our Country and he was really friendly. He asked us what we thought of the Dáil and what did we think of how our country is run. Going to Leinster house was really fun and really interesting to see how our country works
