Four courts
On Monday the 11th, I started my third week of work experience in the Four Courts. I got in contact with a Barrister before so they could show me around and how lawyers work. He gave me a tour of the four courts and explained all of the different courts. We then sat in the Supreme Court and watched a case in there. The supreme works in a different way as it can have 3, 5 or 7 judges. When the case concluded. We went to the high court to see what was happening there. There were lots of different cases happening in all of the high courts. The one we went into was hearing to cases that were trying to get pushed forward. On Tuesday, I watched cases from the circuit courts. I found these really interesting. I went back to watch more high court cases which were interesting as well. The barrister i was working with planned to go to a few cool places. We went to Kings inn were all barristers go to study Law. I thought it looked really nice and was really impressive. We walked around the Law Society and we visited the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ). We also went to Dublin Castle and Chester Beattie library. Watching cases in the four courts was really cool and to see how law works in different cases was really interesting. I was really impressed by the size of the four courts. The barrister explained the different courts and level of each one. The district court is the lowest level. Then it moves to the circuit court which is the second lowest. It moves then to the high court and then the Supreme Court . However, the Court of Appeal is in between the High Court and the Supreme Court but the Court of Appeal only handles cases that the people want to repeal because they feel that it was a unfair trial. This can only happen if you have good enough evidence to prove your case. Then you need to go to court again. In the criminal courts of justice, the building was built, the higher the floor, the more important the court. We watched a trial in the court which was cool. Working in the four courts was really fun. I got to experience on how a lawyer works in and out of the courts. I got to see were they learnt to become a lawyer and the different levels of the court. Going to the Four Courts was really cool.
